The museum - the castle of labour
Hardly any other testimony to Germany's industrial past is as beautiful and extraordinary as the Zollern colliery. It is therefore all the more surprising that the castle-like complex was to be demolished in the 1960s. Today, the machine hall with its impressive Art Nouveau portal is an icon of industrial culture.
The LWL Industrial Museum makes the history of the industrial age accessible at eight historical sites. It depicts the former working life in the factories and mines. More than 400,000 people visit the demonstrations, exhibitions and events every year.
