The Stiftung Deutsches Historisches Museum (DHM) is a foundation and museum for German history in Berlin and sees itself as a place of "enlightenment and understanding about the shared history of Germans and Europeans".

To mark the 70th anniversary of the German surrender, the special exhibition 1945 - Defeat. Liberation. New Beginning. shows the situation after the end of the Second World War and the immediate post-war period in Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Great Britain, Denmark, Norway, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the Soviet Union.

The multimedia tour focuses on the state of society and the political system at the end of the war and explains the most important upheavals of the post-war period.
