Porcelain is not just porcelain. The Porzellanikon in Hohenberg an der Eger vividly conveys the history of porcelain in German-speaking countries from the beginning of the 18th century to the political change in 1989, using impressive objects, large pictures based on contemporary artefacts, audio-visual media and interactive media stations.

We installed an xpedeo system in the form of a WebApp for the Porzellanikon. In addition to the technical components, we were responsible for creating panoramas and floor plans, editing the texts and producing the audio for a total of 8 tours. For the first time, we also produced sign language tours and plain language tours in foreign languages, in this case in English and Czech. There is also a tour for blind and visually impaired people, which can be followed independently with the help of an in-house guide and navigational supplement via the media guide.

The guided tour for blind and visually impaired people can be used with the help of a screen reader on a smartphone and includes stations throughout the museum where visitors can access objects using a tactile book with integrated NFC technology: The titles and outlines of the objects can be felt with the fingers. Further information is available via NFC chip on your own smartphone. These are exhibits that are difficult for visitors to access due to their location in the museum. Another special part of the tour are original objects that can be touched.
